(1) To enhance the ability of foreign workers to communicate in Mandarin while living and working Taiwan and not limiting learning by location or time, in 2024, the Workforce Development Agency started offering digital learning courses for foreign workers. These online Mandarin courses are designed for Indonesian, Vietnamese, Filipino, and Thai foreign workers in Taiwan. In addition, four online Mandarin learning “Yi Xue Yuan” groups were established in different languages, allowing foreign workers to learn Mandarin for free, improve their Mandarin fluency and thereby make it easier to adapt to life in Taiwan. The agency also provides local governments with funding to offer Chinese language courses on an annual basis. Foreign workers can contact the labor authorities of local governments for information about such classes.
