Q: Is the Keeping Good Quality Migrant Workers for Long-Term Employment Program applicable to migrant workers who have already departed?


Answer:

Applies to
1. Employers can apply for foreign workers to be upgraded to intermediate skilled foreign worker status when the worker previously worked in Taiwan but left the country and has since returned and accumulated 6 consecutive years of work, has worked for the same employer for an accumulated 6 years, or has worked for an accumulated total of 11 years and 6 months or more in Taiwan.
2. In addition, only former employers of foreign workers who worked in Taiwan for a total of 11 years and 6 months or more but have since left the country, can apply for them to return to work in Taiwan as intermediate skilled foreign workers. However, when a foreign worker is engaged in live-in care work, employers, relatives of care recipients within three degrees of kinship and care recipients with no relatives in Taiwan, who meet the conditions detailed in Paragraph 5, Article 43 of the Regulations on the Permission and Administration of the Employment of Foreign Workers can also apply.
