Contract Extension and Termination > I. Application for Employment Extension

◎If a intermediate skilled foreign worker reaches the expiration of the three-year employment period and If it is necessary to continue the employment, the employer may apply for an extension of the employment permit.
In accordance with Article 48 of the Regulations on the Permission and Administration of the Employment of Foreign Workers, as well as valid employment documents for  type C foreign workers, the application procedure and other required documents specified by the central competent authority under Subparagraph 3, Item (2) and Subparagraph 4, Item (2) of the Regulations (hereinafter, the Valid Document), the employer must prepare the valid documents and submit an application for an employment permit extension to the Ministry of Labor within four months before the expiration of the current employment permit.
◎When applying for an employment permit extension, the employer of intermediate skilled foreign workers is exempt from submitting the certificate of technical skill requirements. However, if intermediate skilled foreign workers transfer to a new employer, they must resubmit the certificate of technical skill requirements unless their salary meets the required standard for exemption.
